Randwick Park
Randwick Park is a South Auckland suburb and home to more than 5,700 people, a third of whom are 15 years of age or younger. The area has similar percentages of Māori, Asian and Pākehā peoples (22-23%), and a higher Pasifika population (31%). A third of the population are lone parents, many of whom live below the poverty line. Home ownership has decreased and private rental has increased by 30% in the last decade with Housing New Zealand the largest landlord in the area.
It is an area full of contrasts, extremes, and a rawness that inspires promise for the future. From the outside, it seems to offer little, but when you look inside, you find an abundant community that is growing; thriving because some people genuinely care for it and the people who live there and, they want others to take greater care of it as well.
Randwick Park is the residents, the people who live there, and people who work and play there; those who have invested time, energy, resources into that community, It is a family, a wider family…. the Whanau connection.
Collectively they have, for well over a decade driven sustainable change within their community. Change that has been cultural, spiritual, and commercial providing a sense of care, belonging ownership and responsibility.
The communities who have shown the best of collective change, achieving outstanding impact together. A group of people whose achievements enhance the social, economic, cultural, or environmental prosperity of the community they serve.
Nominees of this Award must:
- Be more than one person (duo, group, community or organisation) who has made – or is making – a significant contribution to their region, town, suburb, community (be it geographical, or interest specific), iwi, or local group. In any sector including (but not limited to) business, leadership, culture, voluntary work, disaster relief, environmental work, health, education, sporting clubs, or working with the disadvantaged.
- Have had significant impact over the last 12 months.
- Be role models for New Zealanders and highlight collective action toward positive change.

Judges will review each nominee using the following criteria:
