Rae Te Nahu is the secretary of the
Whangawehi Catchment Management Group a group which works to enhance the
Whangawehi stream and its biodiversity.
Driven, not by financial reward or
personal glory, but by a vision of a better way of interacting with our
environment Rae is an exceptional person who has turned her passion, the
betterment of the environment and the community into positive action.
The Kiwibank Local Hero category recognises
people whose selflessness and determination have made a difference in their
community.
Judging is currently under way and the winners
of a Kiwibank Local Hero medal will be confirmed later this month. Medals will
be presented at 16 regional presentation ceremonies throughout New Zealand
between 15
th November and 9
th December.
