Local Hero Medal Presentations concluded

14 Dec 2015

Local Heroes.
Local Heroes.

What an amazing four weeks it has been, travelling close to 8000 kilometres of our beautiful country, and meeting the outstanding New Zealanders, who selflessly use their passion, determination, and aroha in their communities, to make them a better place for the rest of us to live in.

After four weeks, sixteen presentations, and two hundred and ninety two medals, we have come to the end of what we like to call the ‘Kiwibank Local Hero Medal Presentation Roadshow.’

From the top of the North Island in Whangarei, right down to Invercargill, we have had the chance to honour and say thank-you to the deserving Local Hero medallists.

Common, at each of the presentations, was an immense sense of humbleness. It was clear that none of our Local Heroes, ever did what they did for the recognition or for any accolade which, made it that much more special to acknowledge them and to say thank you in front of, their family, friends and colleagues.

Photos from all the events can now be found on our Facebook page, follow the link below.

Lastly, all the medal recipients are currently being considered for the overall, Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the Year and, the ten semi-finalists will be named along with our other category semi-finalists at the end of December.

Know someone who you think deserves a Local Hero Medal? Nominations for next year open July 1, 2016.
